For connecting greater distances from the shore, amplifiers and in some cases directional antennas will help. However, directional antennas require alignment. A cellular bidirectional amplifier with a hi gain omni antenna can be less trouble. If using an amplifier, please utilize one with device dependent power gain to avoid disturbing the cellular carrier's network.
