dB vs dBi
I just recently found this page, and have signed up!
I don't know if anyone will read this page, but I hope that John Navas will.
I was reading the page about wireless on a boat, and saw what to me is an obvious error. It is the part where it suggests the difference between a 2 dBi antenna and an 8 dBi antenna is 6 dBi. That is not correct, the difference is 6 dB, not 6 dBi. My first reaction was that this error should be corrected. But then after some consideration, I wondered whether the error was intentional, as most readers will not be aware of the error, and may make more 'sense' to them as written.
Overall, I want to say what a great resource this site is. Thank you!

- Thanks for the kind words, Dave, and thanks for catching that mistake, which slipped past Jeff and me, and infected more than just that page. Please do keep making contributions like that.

- John, you are welcome. I did see the error on at least one other page, but only changed it here. Since I just signed up, I did not want to overstep my bounds here. It appears that you have added "dB vs dBi" in the summary block, and it then appears as a title to the post. I am just trying to learn how this works, and did not know what to put there.

- If you're thinking of making an edit that might be at all controversial, it's a good idea to discuss it first on the discussion (Talk) page that's linked to the page you're thinking of editing ([discussion] tab at the top), and call my attention to it with a post to my Talk page.
- To create a new section on a Talk page with a place to enter the subject, click on the [+] tab at the top of the page.
- To sign your post, click the signature button in the row of buttons just over the edit control, 2nd from the right.
- Thanks for your help!
